 World Hepatitis Day

Worldwide, 300 million people are living with
viral hepatitis unaware. Without finding the undiagnosed and linking them to care, millions will continue to suffer, and lives will be lost. On World Hepatitis Day, 28 July, we call on people from across the world to take action, raise awareness and join in the quest to find the “missing millions”.

Viral hepatitis is one of the biggest global health threats of our time
1.34 million deaths a year
Causes two in every three liver cancer deaths
300 million people living with viral hepatitis unaware

But together we can eliminate viral hepatitis
Global elimination strategy adopted in 2016
A cure for hepatitis C and treatment and vaccine for hepatitis B exists
Viral hepatitis included in Sustainable Development Goals

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African 

 anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist

He studied law at the University of Fort Hare and the University of the Witwatersrand before working as a lawyer in Johannesburg.

Robben Island: 1964–82

Pollsmoor Prison: 1982–88

Victor Verster Prison and release: 1988–90

Nelson Mandela served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

Nelson Mandela  awarded  2017 Nobel Peace Prize for outstanding contributions in peace.
